Less Stress & More Fun
The All Aboard program offers a structured approach to help children develop their reading skills in line with phonics taught in school. By using All Aboard, children can engage in essential practice that focuses on decoding letter patterns and blending sounds, fostering both accuracy and fluency in reading.
This program is designed to make reading practice enjoyable and stress-free for both the child and the parent. Each session is brief and incorporates games, which make the learning experience engaging rather than intimidating. Most children are ready to begin these reading practices around the age of four. If a child is not quite ready, parents are encouraged to wait a few months before trying again.
The Three Key Pillars of Reading
- Understanding phonemes and the alphabet
- Gaining confidence in blending sounds to form words
- Learning to associate letter patterns with corresponding sounds
These foundational elements are pivotal for developing reading skills. The gaming approach used in All Aboard encourages daily engagement, often resulting in children expressing interest in their own learning, which may come as a pleasant surprise.
All lessons within the All Aboard program are available free of charge to any child.
Structured For Success
The program is designed to facilitate successful reading sessions, helping to build confidence week by week. Without proper support, reading practice can become stressful for both the child and the parent. Establishing a positive mindset around reading is crucial for fostering long-term success. Therefore, consistent praise for each accomplishment during lessons is highly recommended.
Parental involvement plays a significant role in this process. While teaching a child to read can present challenges, it is important for parents to remain patient and understanding; comparing the difficulty to learning an unfamiliar script, such as Arabic text, can provide perspective on what their child may experience.
Access to the library feature will be granted once a child completes the first ten lessons and has gained sufficient familiarity with letters and sounds to tackle their initial book. For children who already have some reading experience, the early stages of All Aboard might appear slow-paced; however, a solid foundation is far more beneficial than rushing through material.
For older children facing considerable frustrations with reading who may need additional support, exploring the online “Easyread System” may be more appropriate. Further information can be found through a simple Google search.
